How to run a cornhole league

Run a Cornhole League

How you run your cornhole league can affect how many people play and how many come back each year. Leagues are a great way to get out and socialize and have some fun all year long. Maybe you have a pretty good collection of boards and feel you could run a pretty good league or maybe you have played on a few leagues and want to start your own. Here are some simple tips to get you started in running your own league.

Location, location, location.

What happens when it rains? Does the venue have the space to handle several boards at a time? Is the location too far out of the way for people to make it each night?

Time and dates.

Most leagues run one night a week for several weeks. How many weeks may depend on how many teams you have sign up and if you want to make sure everyone plays everyone else.

Rules

Running a fair league is very important. If the players don’t feel the league is fair they wont come back and then you have bigger problems. Keeping it fair by explaining the rules to the teams early in the season can avoid conflicts down the road. Sometimes keeping the rules simple is the best, but you then need to stick to them for everyone to follow.

Keeping track

Using a software program like LeagueTrackerPro.com can make your job as a league manager much easier and more enjoyable. LeagueTrackerPro sets your schedule and can even calculate handicap for you if you want to make the league more competitive. Tools like this have ways to share stats on social media as well which makes them great ways to keep in touch with your teams and players.

Cost and Payout

Most leagues have some sort of payout whether that is 100% payout or if you take a cut to run the league that is up to you. If you are playing in the league it is probably best to pay out 100% so you don’t look like a scam to just make money.

Summary

When you run a cornhole league it can be enjoyable and fun, but it can also be stressful and difficult. Making sure your teams have a good time should be the top priority and they will keep coming back year after year. Keeping the venue happy ensures you can keep holding the league there.

No matter what you do or where you play have fun outdoors!
